The University of York is appointing its next Vice-Chancellor and President to lead a research-intensive Russell Group university through its next phase of development. The Vice-Chancellor will sustain academic and research excellence, strengthen the student experience, secure long-term financial resilience and pursue opportunities for growth and diversification. The role will also represent York across the higher education sector, government, international networks and the civic and economic life of the region. Candidates should bring substantial senior leadership experience in a research-intensive university or comparable environment, academic credibility, strong strategic and financial leadership, sound judgement and the ability to build trust across a complex community. The University is looking for a visible, collaborative and values-led leader able to navigate a challenging sector environment while maintaining York’s public-purpose mission.
